Enjoy The Silence 4

(Prussia x Reader)

Sorry for being so late on this chapter!

Death No. 4

“Demons are like obedient dogs; they come when they are called.”

.

“I asked you to wipe out the body.” A rough voice called out, laced with worry and annoyance. The figure stood over a pier eyes glazed over staring out into the endless blue sea, the night air was strong, mixed with the freshest of sea salt. The wind began to pick up, licking at the shadows cloth keeping it from sight, helping it blend with the darkness it called home.

“I did.” A gentler voice called out, soft and calm unlike its counterpart whom was down right shivering in anger and hatred; it was very much evident despite the cape that hung tightly to the body, a lone hand keeping the clothe near its form. The bony white hand that protruded from one of the gapping black holes so pale and long they could have belonged to death himself.

“No. You didn’t. I expected better from you. The body was found.” The rash voice called out piercing the chilling air; the other figure could feel the tension build up in the atmosphere, it was thick. “I told you to burn the body to keep suspicions at low.” The deeper of the two spoke out once again, stabbing the air that surrounded them again and again with its words, quick and precise.

“I honestly thought the body would rot before anyone would get to it—“

“—Do you think I’m stupid? That this is a game? I thought you wanted to live amongst us? The price is high above your head right now, do I make myself clear boy?” The man visually tensed up as the deeper voice saw through his defenses quickly and rather casually despite the threat that hung tightly about his neck. As if the gallows awaited him the man gulped, the rashness in his voice plowed through it like velvet, frigid and full of small tremors the young man spoke up again, this time without cockiness.

“Yes. I understand…I apologize, please, give me another chance to redeem myself. I can make myself usefu—“ Once again the youngling was caught off by the raise of a bony hand, so frail to sight but one knew better than to upset the owner of said hand.

“—We mustn’t get hasty, I’m sure she’ll understand, at a cost of course.” The deeper of the two spoke up once again, all seriousness aside, a dark glint in his voice. A deal was becoming a reality. “Your memories, give them to me and you live.” The gray voice called out again, jolly and full of utter excitement. The trade was one that would pull through; the youngling had already lost even before he’d spoken the undeniable yes.

“Of course. I’ve already lost so much.” He spoke up, soft and full of submissiveness. The bony fingers of the cloaked finger moved forward to shake the younglings hand, wicked and freezing to the touch, as if the ash whites of hell had already varnished it ivory to which it already had yet there was no heat.

“That is a deal then, the contract has been made.” The graying voice drew out, without a second thought he’d pricked the young mans hand and stolen a few drops of his cursed blood, tainted with the of a demons. Virgin crimson no longer, now a deep grungy black. “I wish you luck child, the mistress only expects greatness from you despite your last bubonic move.” The gray one spoke harshly as if the words were poison on his tongue.

“Of course.” The slyness had made its way back into the young mans voice, elegance radiated off of him like a thousand obsidian filled pearls, sullen and ominous. “I will give them no mercy if my queen asks of it.”

“Good to hear. I will return in due time expecting progress on her behalf, do not ruin this gracious opportunity, fleshy.” The pale one whispered out, concluding the conversation and in one foul swoop he sprouted wings the color of the night itself, torn and worn open for the stars to fill. The bony demon leapt from the pier and up into the clouds above the crashing waves on the rather restless night, demons were amongst the living at this hour. The young man watched as its form vanished into the graying clouds, a storm was approaching, a good day for him to begin his search for the founder of the body, he’d need retribution before beginning, it was like a stain on his rather flawless reputation.

“It’s time to find a bitch that does not belong.” He spoke darkly, his rather insidious aubergine eyes glowing with demonic undertones, their blood was running through him, he might as well be considered one at this point. No matter, it was bound to happen, and soon. “Oh so very soon.” He muttered to himself, a shit-eating grin between his cheeks.

………………………………………………………………………......................................................

“I swear to god, Gilbert, if you say one more thing I’m going to stab you in your rotting heart.” I coughed out rigidly, Gilbert had been speaking non-stop about useless things, like beer and awesome (lame) stuff for the past several hours.

“But (f/n), I want a beer, it’s been a while since I’ve had one and my cravings are getting the better of me.”  Gilbert whined out in that raspy voice of his coated in want. How he could love that foul substance was a mystery to me. Like bubbly golden acid but whatever, he was the perfect stereotype of a Prussian, as he liked to call himself.

“I just want to know how you even crave for such a human like substance that’s weird enough but the fact that you’re even craving it is even weirder. Like a vampire crying out for cookies, weird.” I sighed and looked about with interest. Just great, we seemed to have wondered into a small town. I should have expected as much. Sadly, our travels and efforts had done nothing, the victim had recently been laid to rest and the last of the evidence had been confiscated and blocked up to hide any of our involvement in the case.  Family members called and charges pressed against her husband that has yet to be found, although Arthur is working on that. As of now I’ve been relapsed from my duty and am expected to catalogue Gilbert upon my return.

After a rather uneventful travel Gilbert and I had made it to a shantytown at the edge of a predominant German city. It was rather rough around the edges, shady people speckled about the muddy street; an ominous air about it. It didn’t exactly scream ‘crime!’ but it sure did whisper it, whisper it really fucking loudly. I’d been to worse places but Humptinburg was up there, the foul smell and the amount of dilatation in the small town of three hundred was enough to make even me clutch my bag.

“Hey….(f/n)?” Gilbert asked rather casually, although only knowing each other for under a week he’d gotten very comfortable with me. I didn’t understand why, I tried my best at keep my distance but Antonio always told me it was because I was a challenge people flocked to me, oddly enough. I sighed and tightened my backpack for safety measures; if one of these civilians were to steal it they’d find some pretty valuable stuff.

“Yes Gilbert?” I asked solemnly, the tone in my voice most likely egging him on, although, there was a slight pause when he spoke, rigid and somewhat tired.

“If….do you think…never mind.” I rolled my eyes at his indecisiveness, he’d been asking the same question all day only for him to half ass it, it was getting rather annoying but I held my tongue. First the beer and now this how much more did he think I could take? He was on thin ice.

“Fine.” I finished the worthless conversation so no small talk would cause it to drag on. I decided to have us split up and search for a place to rest at for the night, although he never bothered to sleep anymore rather stare either at me or up at the moon like he was possessed. It was rather creepy, especially with those ruby eyes of his, bright and wide awake against his ghostly skin. He was an odd one.

“Let’s split up, I need to find a place for the night before we cross out of here. You go to the motel further up and I’ll ask this guy.” I pointed to the over weight long bearded man whom I presumed owned the establishment by the weary eyes he had on him and the sack of deutschmarks he carried.

“Ja, sure thing frau, perhaps on the way I’ll catch myself a beer.” He flashed me a wide grin before bolting off to the direction I pointed him in. I face palmed before catching the elder’s attention.

“Excuse me, by chance, do you have anymore rooms open—“

“Why yes my dear we do.” He paused, his thick yet jolly accent catching me off guard. He sounded nice enough, his rosy red cheeks and large smile giving me the impression of a kind hearted old man. “How many in your party, don’t tell me you’re all alone now.” He finished, flashing me an even cheesier smile if that was even possible.

“Uh…yes, I have one other friend with me.” (HA! Friend my ass more like an annoyance.) “How much will that be?” The man pulled out two keys before speaking up yet again, his accent causing me to listen carefully.

“That will be forty deutschmarks.” He paused and thought for a moment as if thinking weather or not to raise the amount of money I’d need to pay, either way I didn’t care at this point, I was rather tired and wanted a break from all this walking. Maybe Gilbert got a cheaper price at the other place. “For you, thirty-five, take it or leave it.” I nodded graciously and pulled out the bills. His smile didn’t falter in the slightest as he handed me the two keys to the rooms. “Your rooms are on the first floor near the back, have a wonderful night.” He finished, walking back into the modest yet homey motel. Its walls a classic plastered white with wooden roofing and windowpanes; flowers of all sorts growing in a rainbow like formation. Classic German architecture. Now that I think about it, most of the town looked just as old… none of the buildings, homes, or shops seemed to be any taller than a modest four stories aside from the church of course, that was the only building to stand out. It sort of reminded me of the clock tower I witnessed at the town with Lili.

I hope she’s doing well.

“(F/n)! I have some good news!” I shook my head, wiping away any thoughts of the young blonde. Gilberts noisy voice catching my attention immediately causing me to turn in the way of his direction.

“What is it? Did you find something important!?” I yelled back as the albino came into sight, I looked about him to see if he had anything of great importance. Beer.

He was holding a six-pack of premium Heinz beer. “For Gods sake Gilbert!” I growled out softly as he stops in front of me smiling boldly before thrusting the pack of beer in my face like a puppy to his owner.

“Check it out, there was this hot frau at the bar I stopped at—“

“—So you didn’t get to the other motel?” I question with slight aggravation in my voice, whatever… I already paid the other man anyways.

“No, that’s not important though, what is important is that I was able to get all this beer for only DREI deutschmarks! Can you believe it! THREE!” I face palmed yet again, what was I expecting? It was like he had attention deficit or something. Hyper active and rather charismatic, he was somewhat of a headache but I’m getting used to it.

“Wünderbar,” I rolled my eyes and threw him his key. “I was able to get us two rooms. When you’re done being an idiot come inside.” I rolled my eyes before walking ahead towards the motel, I was tired.

“Wait! Frau, you speak German?” I turned and nodded, of course I spoke German, I spoke I wide range of languages, from Japanese to Egyptian it was part of my job. “Wirklich….” I smiled and grinned softly.

“Wirklich, now, gute nacht.” I finished and closed the motel door behind me leaving the albino to his thoughts for the night. I strongly doubted he’d be coming inside anytime soon, the night was young and his dumb ass had a pack of beer. That was plenty of reason for him to stay out.
